The huge growth of trade and investment between the United States and China in the last decades has created many new opportunities for both countries, opportunities that require new strategic partnerships to fully exploit. However, many obstacles, such as misperceptions, distrust, and trade barriers, can hinder development of these economic opportunities. In order to foster long-term economic cooperation, it is important to overcome those obstacles by creating the open exchange and transparency needed to build greater trust.
To promote trust and understanding between public and private sector stake holders from the U.S. and China, develop strategic partnerships to pursue US-China investment and trade opportunities, U.S-China Foundation for Exchange and Development and Yilaime Corporation will co-host The “US-China Investment and Trade Summit - 2013” from April, 22 to April 28 in Washington, DC, Philadelphia, New York City, and Cambridge. It will bring together approximately 200 private investors, entrepreneurs and venture capitalists from China to meet their public and private sector counterparts in the United States. It will offer a unique opportunity for our business communities to engage each other in a series of panels and networking sessions covering many of the major issues and challenges related to pursuing US-China investment and trade opportunities. The summit will especially feature project matchmaking opportunities and time to engage in direct discussions. Major news organizations from the U.S. and China will participate in the forum, in addition to covering it.
The complex inter-relationships between the various themes of US-China investment and trade are explored in cross-cutting sessions that provide an opportunity for interactive discussion among panel members and participants. The 60-minute sessions will include short presentations by each of the three to five expert panelists followed by a moderated discussion among the panelists and a Q&A session with the audience.
